Giorgia Balboa

Giorgia Balboa is a senior associate at Vanderstappen-Robert, where she focuses on international arbitration and complex dispute resolution, with particular expertise in disputes arising in the energy and construction sectors. She assists Belgian and international companies in high-value, technically complex disputes related to large-scale infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects, both in Belgium and internationally.

Giorgia regularly acts in international and domestic arbitration proceedings, including under the ICC, CEPANI, and ad hoc arbitration rules, and represents clients throughout all stages of the arbitral process—from pre-dispute strategy and contract drafting to arbitral proceedings, settlement negotiations, and enforcement. Her experience notably covers disputes arising from construction and engineering contracts, including EPC and FIDIC-based agreements, with a strong focus on risk allocation, liability regimes, and dispute resolution clauses.

She also represents clients before Belgian courts in arbitration-related matters, including applications for interim measures, setting-aside proceedings, and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. In addition, she advises clients on dispute prevention and dispute management strategies in the context of complex cross-border projects. She graduated from Université Libre de Bruxelles cum laude majoring in Banking and Finance law.

Prior to joining Vanderstappen-Robert in November 2025, Giorgia gained significant experience in international dispute resolution and developed a strong understanding of the financial, corporate, and regulatory landscape through her work at leading international and Belgian law firms, including within a dedicated international arbitration and dispute resolution team for the international law firm Crowell. This background allows her to approach arbitration matters with a commercially driven and pragmatic perspective.
